Sorry, but the ONLY way for you to get a free PSP is to somehow win a conest offering it as a prize. All online popups that offer you these things will eventually ask you to subscribe to something or take a poll. Do American businesses want Illegal immigrant busines?

Apparently they do. Here is what Bank of America is doing

LOS ANGELES -- In the latest sign of the U.S. banking industry%26#039;s aggressive pursuit of the Hispanic market, Bank of America Corp. has quietly begun offering credit cards to customers without Social Security numbers -- typically illegal immigrants.

In recent years, banks across the country have begun offering checking accounts and, in some cases, mortgages to the nation%26#039;s fast-growing ranks of undocumented immigrants, most of whom are Hispanic. But these immigrants generally haven%26#039;t been able to get major credit cards, making it hard for them to develop a credit history and expand their purchasing power.

As long as there are companies like this Illegal will continue to come here and you cannot blame them for doing so. Blame the companies that rool out the red carpet for them. If they did not get any job or benefits they will go back to where they came from tomorrow. An to the idiots who alway ask for a link I will.

Do American businesses want Illegal immigrant busines?consolidation loans

Well, you answered your own question.

Here are my thoughts:

As many of us agree, %26quot;illegal%26quot; means ILLEGAL, so of course they should have to go.

If they have a better life here, they %26quot;should%26quot; stay as long as the US allows them to stay.

But we cannot just sit and complain about it, we have to DO something about it:

Border Security - keep out anyone who did not follow this country%26#039;s laws and regulations for being allowed in

Round up and kick out illegals - like any and all crimes, the law must be enforced, need a secure border or they come right back in, in which case penalties should become stiffer and stiffer for every repeat offense

Deny government services to illegals - that%26#039;s right, no emergency rooms, hospital care, police, firefighters, FEMA, traffic lights, nothing. If you don%26#039;t pay taxes, you don%26#039;t deserve any of them, because you are essentially stealing from the people that do.

Punish those who employ, smuggle, and harbor illegals - as with drugs, you have to work on the demand side of the problem too, not just the supply side. Anyone that encourages, profits from, and facilitates illegal activity is an accomplice/co-conspirator and must be punished.

LEGAL IMMIGRATION IS GREAT and what this country is based on. Quality people coming to join our society without excessively draining our resources. We have scarce resources, and cannot allow millions and millions of illegals into our country without eventually getting overwhelmed. Unfortunately, our border cannot be an open door to the rest of the world%26#039;s billions of unfortunate people. Think about it, without immigration law enforcement, with open borders, how many of the world%26#039;s poor would flock to live in the United States, and what then would our standard of living be? We would become just another third world country.

THERE needs to be a managed, qualified stream of legal immigration that helps this country strengthen, diversify and grow, of people who are qualified, screened, and meet the necessary standards and requirements. People who appreciate this country and what it stands for and will join in, not invade us in uneducated hordes to stay isolated, overwhelming US culture with their own through sheer force of numbers while taking advantage of government services (police, fire, medical, national security, etc.) without paying taxes.

AND we cannot be hypocrites, and we have to be prepared for the consequences, and we must act before the illegal population is so high that it overwhelms even our political system as their children vote in ever increasing numbers. We cannot make money or save money off of cheap illegal labor, whether it is agriculture, cleaning crews, construction, what have you, and then turn around and complain about higher expenses. Many greedy Americans happily profit off of illegals - Bank of America is now offering credit cards to illegals that have no social security numbers. Cell phone companies and banks are working out a system by which illegals can send money to their home countries via cell phones. Large corporations and farmers bus truckloads of illegals around to do things as cheaply as possible. We cannot cry if after cracking down on illegals we have to pay a few cents more as consumers per pound of vegetables, or for professional cleaning services, or for lawn care. Everything is a trade off and we cannot have it both ways.

I love America, my family came here as legal immigrants, as did most Americans%26#039; at some point. Land of the free, equal opportunity, public education, etc. If you love America and will follow the rules, I want you to come and work hard and enjoy our opportunity and make our country even better. If you sneak in illegally you are a criminal and need to be punished, along with anyone that helps you. I do not want to live in a third world country, or see my children or grandchildren living in a third world country, which is what will happen with uncontrolled illegal immigration.

Court tomorrow for Discover Card Debt?

I am going to court tomorrow for my debt with Discover. My original line of crdit was $8,500 but now with interst, late payment and fees it is up to $13,386.

I got the credit card when I was making great money. I went through 2-seprations with my husband and have supported 3-children on/off with this credit card.

In the past, I have been on a monthly payment plan. Then after 1-year I was told I could not stay on the program. My account never went down so I stopped paying because I was strapped for money. I offered them monthly payment of $50, $75 and $100. This was not acceptable. I recived a letter from the lawyer and they said that they would take 70% settlement in Oct. 2007. Recently I received another settlement offer for 50% in Feb. 2008. I would love to take a settlement offer but cannot pay they entire balance in full.

This card was only listed in my name. My husband does not know anything about this debt. What will happen in court tomorrow?

Court tomorrow for Discover Card Debt?student loans company

There will be a court-directed settlement, probably involving a garnishment of your wages until the terms of the settlement are satisfied. The alternative is personal bankruptcy, which should be avoided if at all possible.

Not being able to pay something all at once does not mean you can not pay and the court will consider the case from that viewpoint.

Court tomorrow for Discover Card Debt?

The court will most likely issue a judgment, which may allow the creditor to ask for wage garnishment, put a lien on your house and car and seize your bank accounts as well as any you may acquire in the future (depends on details of your state law)|||They will put a judgment against you, attaching property or assets with your name on it may also be available to the creditor. Garnishment of wages and/or state tax refunds depending on where you live is also an option after they receive the judgment.|||They will obtain a judgment. Best bet is to file bankruptcy. The debt which is un-secured will go away %26amp; not be your responsibility anymore. It will mess up your credit- being this far behind your credit is already trashed.

Otherwise you will probably have 25% of your net income garnished from your wages until it%26#039;s paid.|||likely the judge will enter a judgment against you for the debt due and they will order a judgment for garnishment for wages if our state does garnishment they may ask for a order liquidation of assets and will have to go back to court to prove of this|||Well, a couple of things you might want to consider.I%26#039;ve had good luck here...http://debt-consolidation.featured-resou...

Credit cards settle vs. let go to collections?

I have two cards that have become outragous to pay and I have offered to settle with the companies at about half the owed amount. Should I settle with the companies. If I settle I would have a 1099 sent to me for the remainder. I am wondering if i should let them go to collections in order to avoid the 1099. What are my options and what would be the least impact on my credit report?

Credit cards settle vs. let go to collections?school loans

If you can%26#039;t afford to pay the whole balance it would be best to settle, even though a settlement would hurt your credit if would be better than having your account show up on your credit report constantly as past due, or no payment being made. Also you don%26#039;t want to have the collection agency bloodhounds on your case. You just basically have to pick your poison. The lesser of the two evils. Also once you and your creditor agree to the settlement and you pay the amount. They will send you a settlement receipt letter, stating that the account has been settled. They will no longer be legally allowed to contact you. But make sure you keep the receipt letter and if would be a good thing to sign and send them a cease and desist letter. I use to work for a collection agency.

Credit cards settle vs. let go to collections? loan

How about agreeing to pay back everything you owe? You%26#039;ll have the credit card companies and collection agencies off your back in no time.|||Settling will be better in the long run but if you don%26#039;t have the money pay monthly through a collection company. Usually payments are cheaper with the collection company.|||settling will be better for your credit score but if you have late payments, overcharges... then your credit is already marked high risk and you have a long 7 year wait till anything gets better.|||Pay your cards, your credit history is needed so pay them off, as you will find the card companys will work to get their funds.

Work with the two and you%26#039;ll do alright.|||Settle or declare bankruptcy. In collections the late fees and over limit fees continue to build plus the interest on the overall amount owed plus you will also have the collection fees added on and then if you don%26#039;t pay they take you to court and basically get a judgement against you. Then you can%26#039;t ever take out a loan with that on your record and the juice is still going. I have a credit card bill that has gone from 3650 to over ten thousand.

Credit checks and Employment...should they go hand in hand?

I am really nervous. I was recently offered a job on the condition that my criminal check, credit check and references are completed first. The criminal check and reference are fine, and I will pass with flying colors....it%26#039;s the credit check I am worried about. Honestly, I am pretty sure it sucks! Not because of foreclosures, bankruptcy, repossessions and such, but simply because I (like many people) have had some financial troubles which cause late credit card payments and such.

This position is dealing with different credit card companies, and now I am afraid they will use the credit check against me and decide not to hire me.

Will companies truly pass up a potentially great employee for the sake a some late payments....how is this fair?

Credit checks and Employment...should they go hand in hand?debt consolidation loan

Companies will pass up a good potential employee if they use the credit check as a main employment indicator. There have been several studies that state that people with credit issues and problems are less likely to cause problems and miss work. In addition, they cannot link these people with higher theft either.

But in some situations, the positions need to have a person that can be bonded. People with credit issues are too high of a risk and usually are not insurable.

Credit checks and Employment...should they go hand in hand?

loan

I don%26#039;t think this should be a problem, I would think if you had bankcrupcy or other issues that it might be a problem but for a few overdue payments you should not be penalised as we have all done it at one time or another.|||Some will and some will not.

Since the position involves dealing with credit card companies and you do not have a good record of dealing with credit card companies, I can see why you are concerned.

We do credit checks on potential employees where I work to see how they have managed their financial life. Especially if they are going to be in a position where they will be handling money. There have been a couple of people that were passed over due to credit checks.

Is it fair? We think so since it%26#039;s our job to only hire people that will represent our company in the best way possible. This protects us as well as our customers.|||I think it%26#039;s more for bounced checks or other things like that show up that are against the law...|||Fair?

The company is looking for people who meet the requirements. We do not know if they have bonding or other insurance standards that require the employees in certain areas to be above a specific credit score.

Bad credit means which is not from a specific one-off event indicates the person is not financially responsible. To hire such a person for a roll related to finance would show poor judgment on the part of the company.

It might be that your credit is good enough. You do not know what standard they are looking for. I would remain positive at this stage. I would also pull my credit report if I was you and get any mistakes fixed.|||If you were a car dealer and you needed to hire a car salesman and their background check showed a conviction for auto theft, would you want to hire that person?

Bank sends letters to encourage use of debit card?

Hi. I have a visa debit card provided by the bank, but it is extremely rare that i ever use it. It has been several months since i used it last. The reason i stopped using is because last year i purchased a 12 ounce for $2.56 using the debit card, but didn%26#039;t know that i had no funds in account (the employer delayed the start of direct deposit by 1 week). And then i was fined $33. So the 12 ounce coffee cost me $35.56 altogether! After that i never used the debit card again, and only used credit card thereafter. But now the bank sends frequent letters to encourage use of debit card and that if i use debit card, i will be pre-approved for some other deals offered by bank. So should i start using debit card again?

Bank sends letters to encourage use of debit card?title loans

I wouldn%26#039;t. I hate debit cards and only have one for use at ATM -- which I don%26#039;t really use either.

I%26#039;m not sure what the advantage is to the bank. Perhaps they collect merchant fees or maybe they just hope to get more overdraft fees.

Unless the deal is something really good that you really want, stick with your credit card.

Bank sends letters to encourage use of debit card?

loan

It costs a bank aproximately 3 cents to process a debt card transaction as opposed to a check which costs aproximatley 12 cents to process...that is a 4 factor differance in cost. So it is worth it for them to have you use your debit card as opposed to checks.

Also, some banks have a policy that if you don%26#039;t use your debit card at least once they cancel or deactivate it to prevent fraud on your account via your debit card...so it is a good idea to use it once in a while just to keep the card active. I would always have a customer or two that would come in and inform me that their debit card wouldn%26#039;t work and they were out of checks and they don%26#039;t understand what is going on...always it was that they haven%26#039;t used their debit card, so the bank had deactivated the card for the customers safety...meaning that when the customer really needed it they couldn%26#039;t use it. So use it once in a while.|||I will chose to use a credit card for most transactions, and for small ticket items, will use my ATM card instead. Debit cards to me are essentially like ATM cards, and there%26#039;s no other benefit for me as a consumer (like points for instance). You will also avoid the above situation with credit cards (and can even request for fee waiver and waiver of late payment charges if you pay your bills on time too).|||I stay away from debit cards....good luck trying to get a refund using a debit card. The banks are quick to take out that money, buy are sure slow putting it back in!!|||unless you pay your CC in full at the end of the month, use ATM, unless it a big ticket item, then you want the protection offered by the CCs

About Chase Equity Card?

Stay away from Chase at all cost. The abuses are rampant in there collection procedures (They break every rule under The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) and known to change the A.P.R on you with there BS you didn%26#039;t read the fine print excuse. Cancel your card and they suddenly have no record of it. You didn%26#039;t receive a statement? Not there problem. Miss one payment and your APR will shoot up over 20%. They are on the top ten list of the ConsumerAffairs list of investigation. In fact, I just reported them. If you type in your search engine Chase Visa and abuses you will find numerous web sites regarding the abuses I speak of and more. Please stay away from them.

Not really. You could get a home equity line of credit around or even under 5%. I would shop around before accepting this offer.|||deal or no deal =DEAL|||Without knowing your total financial situation, I have to advise against anything that uses home equity to finance consumer debt. The financial industry, unfortunately, is conditioning us to use our mortgages as a credit card. This is almost always good for the financial company and is rarely good for the consumer. Be wary.

Is there anyway to find out your credit score for free?

Is there anyway to find out your credit score for free?emergency loan

It is possible to get your credit REPORT for free, but not your credit SCORE. The two are different. When most people talk about a credit score, they are referring to their FICO score, though there are a number out there. To get the report, you go to http://www.annualcreditreport.com - the only government sanctioned site. However, there is not really a way to get your credit SCORE for free.

Is there anyway to find out your credit score for free? loan

Don%26#039;t do this online with offers from companies! You go straight to the credit agencies that do the reporting; Equifax, etc.

You are entitled to one free report per year from each. Contact them directly, you will need to write them with your SS#, full name and address, etc.|||I don%26#039;t believe so. You have, by law in the USA, the right to see your CREDIT REPORT once a year or after a negative reply from a credit card application or any type of credit application.

The credit score is a number created by the Credit reporting companies and their formula might be different for each other. In theory you could have three different credit scores.|||free annual credit report online is reputable!|||I got mine free by asking my Bank what it was. They checked and gave me the score.

You can get a free copy of your credit report but not your credit score from the three reporting agencies. To get your credit score, you normally have to pay a fee, unless you have a relationship with your bank and can ask them.|||The only site that the government allows consumers to get a free credit report is at:

https://www.annualcreditreport.com

You are allowed one free credit report every 12 months from each of the three credit agencies; Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax.|||Go to www.annualcreditreport.com and request free copies from one or all three companies.|||Yeah, everyone%26#039;s right about the credit report and the credit score and how you%26#039;re entitled to a free report, not a score. Just a few weeks ago I was looking into finding out my credit score. I went to www.myfico.com, which like you said, needed some of my credit card information to give me my credit score but it was really easy to cancel. They sent me a reminder email about my free trial being over and gave me the option of canceling and all I had to do was click the link.

The information they gave me to was pretty useful, they let me know if and when my score went up or down and possibly why.|||You are correct in that in order to get your FICO score you will have to enroll for the service. It will only be free if you cancel within the 30 day time limit.

In that case it will be free but you have to stay on your toes and cancel in time or you will be charged a monthly fee...most likely $9.95 a month.

Is my work colleague taking the p........?

I temp at a big hospital as a secretary. My colleague has always admired my clothes and she asked that the next time I go to a partricular shop, I get her a skirt in her size. However, no money was mentioned. I did get her the skirt and she did give me the exact money (no addittion as a thank you, nothing). Next time I see her, she asked me to get the same skirt in another colour the next time I go. Again, no money was offered. I do think this is a bit of a cheek. What do you think. When we go out, it%26#039;s me that books the theatre on my credit card - no offer from her and no thank you money or gift from her for me doing this. Again, to my question above, is she taking the p........?

Is my work colleague taking the p........?credit bureau

i think if she likes that skirt so much you can just tell her where the shop is and she can pick it out herself

a sad fact is that sometimes the more we do for people the more they expect from you in future events

as to the theatre tickets - next time say - hey isnt it YOUR turn to book the tickets as i did it last time? then keep your hands firmly in your pockets until she does

Is my work colleague taking the p........?

well no - not if you are going to the shop anyway . why would she give you extra money? it is not as if you are putting youerself out.|||Yes she is.|||well, she is giving you the money back for things you%26#039;ve paid for - if she didn%26#039;t give you the money back then yes I%26#039;d say she was taking the piss, but you%26#039;re not really ending up out of pocket. She is being a bit cheeky expecting you to always be the one to buy things - next time just ask her to book it on her credit card.|||Yes I think she is!! Say to her that if she wants you to pick these bits up for her you will need her to cover the cost before you go (tell her you are a %26quot;bit short of money%26quot;) same with credit card bookings, as there is an added fee, say you dont mind booking the tickets but you will need the money asap and that as you get charged a fee for using the card that will be split between however many of you go!|||She is inconsiderate|||Yep! Just say you are short of money and cant get the skirt - or say you lost your card and are waiting for a replacement - cheeky *****.,I used to have a friend like that - she`d say %26quot;O can you lend me a tenner%26quot; - I`d never get it back and she`d always get ME to pick her up and do all the driving, then she`d run out of money in restaurants - NIGHTMARE! Never would i put up with that again - these people are just users, trust me!|||I don%26#039;t think she should give you additional money either but I believe she should show some interest in the friendship as well by maybe booking tickets too or something like that. After all, is it really worth getting mad about? Is she a good friend otherwise? I wouldn%26#039;t think about it too much....|||Did she give you the money for all the things you bought?

...If she did then its not too bad she probs lazy and trying it on. If its putting you out then just say that you didnt mind the 1st time but in future can she do her own shopping

...But if she is not giving you the money then she is defo takin the p... and you MUST put a stop to it!!!! Just tell her nicely how your feelin than if that doesnt work tell her again but in a more stern tone of voice - if you no what I mean!!

Also if she does give you the money but not straight away then that is wrong too. really she should give it to you before you go buying things for her!!

Good Luck and I hope everything works out!!!|||If it bugs you this much, just say no.|||yes she is,, there%26#039;s no reason why you should use your money, even if you do get it paid back ASAP. but do not expect a gift or payment.|||yeah...just sometimes strongly say you do this time, then she knows that you know that she is taking the p......|||Oh I see! you need your friends to pay you for the privilege!!!!!!!!!!!!|||Err, i am surprised you have to ask - you are being taken as a mug. Next time she asks, just say, %26quot;sure%26quot; and don%26#039;t bother. What an ungrateful person. She%26#039;s not worth the time or effort. Socialise with people who will recipricate your friendship.|||Just like %26quot;Oh My What To Do%26quot; has said above, but not what %26quot;John K%26quot; said above. You value yourself to be treated with respect and that%26#039;s good - take nothing less.|||She should at the very lest say think you, or pay you back. I would stop doing that. You are not her personal shopper, nor are you here personal peggie bank. I have friends like that and I cut them off. I let them know that although I do not mind picking this up for them if I am going to the same store they want something from, nor do I mind fronting them the money, but they HAVE to pay me back because I am not made of money. And it should be agreed that even though you book things on you credit card that she has to pay her half. You should not be the one that shoulders the expence all the time. Although it would be nice of her to get you a thank you gift she isnt really obligated, But proper manners does mandate that she at the very lest says thank you.|||Communication, communication, communication...tell her how you feel. Simple. No one can take advantage of you without your permission. Tell her you simply cannot lay out money for her clothing and if she wants to shop where you do, give her the address of the shop and she can go buy her own clothes. I think that%26#039;s a huge imposition, frankly, but you did it for her and she thinks you are some sort of unpaid servant now...it is up to you to set your own parameters.|||esplain to her u are not her personal shopper and in future dont do it.|||I guess I am showing my age,but what is taking the P ??

It is not uncommon for us to expect something for nothing. When going out it is a gesture for the other person to say thank you by offering more money or something small in return.Kinda like getting a tip.But no they don%26#039;t have to give you anything extra. You were at the store,so it was easier for you to pick up the skirt/ If this bugs you, don;t let it eat at you. Tell her what is on your mind. Be polite and do it when you two are alone. What can it hurt????|||I think she is taking you for granted. It would of been nice for her to buy you a gift or offer you some extra cash but she may feel that you were going to the shop so she did not ask you to go out of your way if it really is that big of a deal next time say no sorry I can%26#039;t or say I can but I need the money up front. If booking tickets ask her to do it.If your friends then really it should not matter that much.|||How about telling her that you won%26#039;t be going to the shop at all. As long as she has paid you for the merchandise, quit worrying. As far as a tip for your helpfulness, consider it not going to happen, ever. Maybe her credit card is maxed out when it comes to booking theatre. Try asking her to book the next show on her card for a change. Good luck.|||Friends share innit. You need to tell her that money doesn%26#039;t grow on trees.

How long should a credit account be open before requesting the APR% to be lowered?

We recently had a financial advisor come to our work, to discuss IRA accounts. It came up that people who are in debt can call their credit card companies %26amp; after being turned down by the CSR %26amp; requesting a manager (he said this happens every time), that you can request your APR% to be lowered. He said that %26quot;loan%26quot; companies won%26#039;t do this, but most credit card companies will (well, the supervisors will, he said that the CSR%26#039;s aren%26#039;t allowed to negotiate or offer a supervisor, you must ask for one). At the time, I didn%26#039;t think to ask him what the least amount of time is that an account should be open, before attempting this. Does anyone know? Thanks!

How long should a credit account be open before requesting the APR% to be lowered?child tax credit

I know for a fact many people ask for credit limit increases RIGHT AFTER being approved for a card when you talk to a supervisor. In terms of the APR, it doesn%26#039;t hurt to ask right away especially if you talk to a supervisor. If you want to play it safe, wait 6 months after having paid your card as agreed.

Bottom line though: never hurts to ask!

I had my Discover card less then a year before I called up and told them I would cancel the card if my rate is not lowered. I had a 0% intro rate for 1 year and after that it would go up to 19%. I told them that was not acceptable and if they wanted me to continue being a customer..it would have to be lowered. They lowered it to 11%. It might have worked out for me because I was still in that intro rate when I called.|||Hi,

About to leave for Navy boot camp, but have bad credit. How will this affect me?

I got involved with a girl a couple of years ago and disregarded all of my credit card bills. Now I%26#039;m playing catch up. I%26#039;ve been slowly paying off my bad credit through credit agencies now for the past two years.

I%26#039;ve already signed my contract for the Navy and will be leaving for boot camp in July. I%26#039;ve researched and read that bad credit will affect my career in the military. I passed the security background check and received a pretty good job offer, Avionics Technician. What I%26#039;m worried about is will this bite me in the butt later on after boot camp or worse during boot camp?

My Uncle who was in the service for approximately 24 years made the comment that %26quot;you don%26#039;t want the military to find out you have bad credit.%26quot; So now I%26#039;m worried. I notified the classifier, the guy who assigns jobs, about the bad debt and I was still offered the above job. I%26#039;m just freaking out.

Thanks for your help.

Dude, don%26#039;t worry.. this is ridiculous... they don%26#039;t care one bit that your credit is bad... just work off the bills while in bootcamp and get it all straight...

The only time bad credit might even come into play would be if you went for a way higher officer position... they don%26#039;t care about an enlisted members finance except to make sure you are a good sailor and do what is right now...

The fact that you have been working to get yourself out of the problem for the past two years is in your favor. Just keep up with your payment arrangements, and you should have no fall-out.

The most likely way for this to cause problems is if you don%26#039;t keep up, and your creditors get in touch with your CO. Keep your nose clean, and you should be ok.

Good luck. Thank you for your service commitment!|||Hi! I was also in the Navy and actually hoping to re-enlist in the next couple of weeks. When I was in, I had bad credit, but continuosly worked on it. If you miss payments, the creditors will try to contact your command and it may go as far as the CO. You really don%26#039;t want your business out there. But as long as you keep a good record of your payments, make them on time and get them paid off, you shouldn%26#039;t have many problems. Let me stress that you need to keep a good record of your payments...like a paper trail. Just so if anything does come up, you%26#039;ll have proof of the actions you%26#039;ve been taking to clear this up. You%26#039;ll need this for just about everything you do in the military. ALWAYS have hardcopies. Having bad credit can also affect the type of job you get, i.e., if you need a clearance or not. But you have gotten Avionic Technician (AT), so you should be good to go. Just stay on track...stay out of trouble. Good luck in boot camp!|||WORRY! Your new job will, I%26#039;m sure, require a security clearance. Part of retaining that clearance is to maintain your credit. If for some reason the Navy should discover your credit problems (they do pull credit periodically) then they will research the situation and consider suspending your clearance until you can clean up your act.

Seriously! It does happen. I work with people who are in the forces every day and their security clearances get suspended because of debts they owe to my clients. If it is on your credit report, WORRY about it.

I would seriously disregard anyone else in the services (your buddies) who are ticking time bombs.

If you don%26#039;t believe me, ask Google. -%26gt; http://www.google.com/url?sa=t%26amp;ct=res%26amp;cd...|||As long as your trying to pay your bills there will be no problem.

My ex-husband was in the Army and he had awful credit and he drug mine right down with his. All they ever did was send him to classes on money management. As long as you pay your bills you shouldn%26#039;t have a problem. The military just wants to make sure your are taking care of your responsibilities. It sound like you are. Just keep it up.|||You%26#039;ll be fine, especially if you are staying current now. If you started to fall behind after going in, then you might have some trouble, but it%26#039;s never a sure thing.

Credit collector is threatening me a law suit, what do i have to do?

after I graudated, I could not find a job for months and could not pay the credit card debt, which was 9800(includig late payment and interest). It was handed over the collector, they offered me to settle at half but I couldn%26#039;t afford. Now it was with the second collector, and I offered them I could settle the amount the first collector suggested. They refused and told me it is not 15000 with interest and fees. And if I don%26#039;t pay back in a month, they will take this one to the court. Seems like I am in deep trouble. I don%26#039;t have that huge amount with me, of course, and I am worrying about the law suit. Any advice? Any suggestions??

Credit collector is threatening me a law suit, what do i have to do?unemployment rate

I had the same thought that bella said, check to see if you are outside the statute of limitations in your state for collecting the debt.

What state are you in? And, when was the last time you made a charge or a payment? If you have your credit reports, what do they list for the date of last activity?

If you are out of SOL, you are not legally bound to pay. If you are out of SOL, it will be illegal for them to file suit.

It sounds like it must be a pretty old debt if it%26#039;s been handed off to a second collector and the amount has almost doubled.

DO NOT send them a cease and desist letter at this point. That will leave them no option but to either sell the debt or immediately start the law suit.

I can%26#039;t really give my opinion on what to do without knowing the SOL in your state, and when you defaulted.

++++++++++edit

The SOL could either be 2 years or 4 years depending on how you obtained the credit card.

2 years - Open, no writing. This 2 year SOL is for %26quot;pre-approved%26quot; unrequested credit where there was no signed application made.

4 years - Regular cc accounts applied for are the %26quot;reduced to writing%26quot;

So, if you had received an offer for a credit card, applied and was approved - it would be 2 years. (and you would be out of the legal SOL for collecting)

If you decided one day that you wanted a credit card (without receiving any offer from them first) with %26lt;card co. name here%26gt; and applied, was approved then it would be 4 years.

Either way, one thing that gets me is the amount they are claiming you owe. It is to fishy and just does not sound right.

Not enough time has passed for the amount of the debt to almost double. That%26#039;s what people who have had charge offs for 10 years (more or less) might face, not someone who has a 2 year old charge off.

I would suggest sending a debt validation letter. Write up one letter and list BOTH the lawyer and the collection agency on it and send it to both. Send them certified mail return receipt.

Make them PROVE the amount they are claiming is the legal amount.

I would also suggest going to the first link I%26#039;ve provided and do some reading on your state statutes and SOL.

Go to the second link I%26#039;ve provided and start reading in the newbie forum and then in the credit forum. You can find samples of debt validation letters there, plus if you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the credit forum.

Everything on that site is free to read and use. There are many members on that site that have been exactly where you are, and a few that are going through what you are right now.

How come most places do not accept American Express credit cards?

I have realized that some restaurants and stores do not accept American Express/Discover credit cards. Why is that? Only places such as Costco and Sam%26#039;s Club offer American Express (along with the Costco membership) and they do not accept other credit cards. What B.S this is!

How come most places do not accept American Express credit cards?credit card offers

American Express charges a high fee to use their cards. For example, if Visa charges 2% of the transaction, then a $100 charge %26#039;costs%26#039; the store/restaurant $2 in fees. Amex has a much higher rate- so stores don%26#039;t want to pay a bigger chunk from their sales to them and don%26#039;t offer it. There%26#039;s a transaction charge plus the % and that is why you see places that say %26quot;Minimum Credit transaction $10%26quot; or something. Because if the transaction charge is 1.35 (example) and you charge $2.. well they only made .75

How come most places do not accept American Express credit cards? loan

They charge the vendors, so the vendors don%26#039;t want to use them...|||They charge the vendor too much.|||I think it is because they charge the business a higher percentage of the total purchase than other cards.|||American Express charges the merchants higher fees...|||Amex charge the companies a percentage to be able to accept their credit card and they are notoriously high. Other companies like Visa and Mastercard only charge around 2% but Amex charges much higher!|||Amex charges businesses a ridiculous amount of money to accept their card. Yes, they charge to be able to accept them as a method of payment.|||Like Anna said, they charge the merchant, %26quot;You don%26#039;t take credit cards, sorry, I%26#039;ll have to buy this somewhere else, thanks, bye%26quot;|||The cost associated with accepting the card is much higher than others. Its a companys choice to accept that cost or not. Many chose not to.|||Each credit card company charges its merchants a fee to process every transaction. In other words, the merchant receives a discounted amount, not the full amount of the actual purchase.

AMEX charges among the highest discount rates in the industry. Not sure of the exact amount, but I believe it%26#039;s at least 4% (Visa and M/C may be about 3%.)|||Every time you pay with a credit cards, the merchant gives up a % to the credit card company. In the case of Amex, they are the most expensive of them all. To add to the disadvantage of accepting Amex payments, the merchants have to wait allot longer to get their money, specially if they are located outside of the US.

Be nice, pay with VISA, MASTERCARD or a bank card!|||American Express charges the merchant a transaction fee for every charge and an rental charge for card sliders. Some merchants have a minimum charge because they want the purchase to be worth the fee. American express does not charge interest for bills paid in full at month end. Instead of billing card holder they hit up the merchant.|||All credit cards charge the merchant to accept credit cards, American Express charges 1 flat rate instead of multiple tiered rates that the other credit card companies charge. So say Amex charges 2.5% to the merchant, that may look more than the 1.7% that Visa charges, but that 1.7% is only for certain cards. Visa then charges things on top of that percentage, like if the card is a rewards card they will charge more. Amex is a little more expensive but their card members tend to spend more and go bad less. That is just the stats of the industry

What do I do? My mom ruined my credit.?

I need help!!! I%26#039;m 25 years old and have only held 2 credit cards in my posession that I always pay over the minimum amount or completely if possible and a student loan that in deferment till December which i plan to pay consistently and on time, BUT 20+ open accounts under my name on my credit because my mom%26#039;s credit was so bad she couldn%26#039;t get anything so she convinced me that opening and using ALL of the offers I got through the mail would help build mine, BUT now I have so much open credit it%26#039;s ridiculous almost all the cards are maxed out some over the limit. Granted they%26#039;re paid by her every month on time BUT I CAN%26#039;T GET ANYTHING!!! I have all this debt and I%26#039;ve never even used these accounts!!! What can I do? There in my name but I don%26#039;t pay on them and I definitely have never used them. This is so unfair!!! MY MOM RUINED MY CREDIT and I%26#039;m responsible!

What do I do? My mom ruined my credit.?credit union

Since you signed all of the contracts for the credit cards, you are responsible for the debt.

There is nothing you can do to your Mom legally since she has not violated any laws. Unless she forged you name on the receipts. Then she has committed fraud and you might be able to get out of it if you reported her. Especially if the bills were sent to a address that is different than yours.

Take all of the cards away from your Mom and cut them up so she can not make this any worse. And then make her pay them off.

Now for a word of warning, if she is the kind of mother that would do this to her own daughter in the first place, she most likely will not pay after you take the cards away.

I wish you the best of luck.

What do I do? My mom ruined my credit.?

only one thing you can do. have to make mom get and or you will have to get the accounts closed. she will try to guilt trip you, but you have to now look out for yourself. but you HAVE to do it.|||well first off close those accounts... I would report your mother, sorry to say... I would also watch what you do in the future, and keep track of your credit report because she does still have a lot of information on you...|||Yes, if you signed the contract you are responsible. It%26#039;s sad when family members use you to get what they want, but let%26#039;s face it you let her.

Cut up the cards, and minimize your losses. You may want to consider a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. You need to try to get her to sell something to pay these off otherwise she needs to get a couple of jobs.|||Look at this a serious life lesson. Your initial instincts were probably correct. You should not have opened all these accounts but you allowed your mother to convince you to do something against your better judgement. You failed to ask yourself why your mother wanted to use credit in your name rather than your own and what the consequences would be.

So that is what happened and this is what is now.

Tell your mother that you will no longer be responsible for her financial future. You say she is paying off the bills so she must have some sort of income.

Immediately close all the accounts. In your letter to the credit card companies, tell them truthfully what has happened and why you are closing the accounts. It won%26#039;t help in the short term, but having this information in their files and your credit report may be helpful down the road.

Explain to your mother, that her failure to finish paying off the bills will cause you continuing credit problems for potentially the next decade, (true.) It will be your decision if this affects your relationship with her. (Think about this carefully and do not make threats you are unwilling to carry out.) With luck, the two of you can maintain your relationship on good terms.

Be prepared for the fact that you may up having to pay off her debts. It%26#039;s not right, it%26#039;s not fair, but that is the way it is.

Since your student loan is being deferred, it suggests you are still in school or are a recent graduate. In either event, the good news is that very soon you should be able to get a good paying job and will have more resources to dig yourself out of this situation.

Sit down and write out a budget. Reduce your costs as much as possible. See what you can do to maximize income. (A little tutoring on the side? Occassional seasonal work? Turning a hobby into a small side business? It takes time and effort, but you can choose to do this.)

No matter what, save a little out of each paycheck to be put aside for emergencies. Your goal should be to have 6 months cost of living expenses set aside in some sort of readily accessible cash assets. Even if you can only save $5 dollars a week, save that $5. With each raise you get, put 50% of that extra take home pay into savings. It won%26#039;t be easy, but each dollar will put you closer to your financial goals.

Having a cash reserve will give you options all the rest of your life.

If you and your mother come to the point that you have to re-pay her debts, call all the credit card companies before they start calling you. Explain the situation and work out a payment schedule now. Work toward paying off the higher interest cards faster. Insist that they work with you to lower the finance percentages. If they won%26#039;t, transfer the balances to the cards with the lowest rates.

Go to the Internet and research cards with teaser rates--sometimes you will find one with low or no interest for a year or six months. Transfer card balances to these cards and then track the time carefully and transfer the balances again before these rates expire. It will take time and effort, but you can save serious interest money this way. (Think of it as another part time job.)

Once you get this resolved, promise yourself you will never allow yourself to be put in this situation again. It will get better. It will.|||close all the accounts you can and call those card companies and see what they can do to help you out. This was a hard lesson to learn huh! I always live by the four Fs Friends Family First to F*** you!|||The cards are in your name...cancel them!

A ccj is a county court judgement and you cant get one of those until it goes to court. If the lawyers have got it they will write to you asking for full payment and threaten to issue proceedings in the county court. You may be able to renegotiate your monthly payment arrangement but clearly you have not kept to this in the past so they may be reluctant to do that. However if it goes to court they will allow you to make monthly payments but your debt will have increased by the court costs and then you will have a ccj

Question about Credit Score and entry level job emloyment. How HR judges it after hiring.?credit repair

your credit score does not matter for employment. They will check your criminal record, your reference, your GPA, your college degre, but not your credit score. Credit score has nothing to do with hiring, promoting someone.

Question about Credit Score and entry level job emloyment. How HR judges it after hiring.? loan

I%26#039;ve been doing HR management for 13 years. The reality is that depending on the position, your credit score may in fact be a detriment to your being considered. Not all employers will run a credit history, but many do. With all of the fraud, and liability that employers now have if employees rip them off (or steal data to sell to a third party), many will not hire someone with poor credit into sensitive areas. Any financial institution, many IT firms, and some employers who handle a lot of cash as part of daily operations will all run a credit history on you.

Unfortunately, the best bet is to improve your financial situation, as difficult as it may be. I would recommend you work hard to pay off the debt. See if you can get a job delivering pizzas on weekends, or some other job that will supplement your income. The bottom line is that you have to get rid of the credit cards, close the accounts, and pay off the debt as soon as you can so that you have more options.

If the job you are applying for requires a solid financial position, and the topic comes up with the employer, you can help the issue by identifying a clear plan that you are implementing to reduce your debt position. If you show you are taking responsibility by canceling the cards with the balances, not opening new cards, and paying above the minimum, then it may mitigate any marginal score that you have.

If it is causing you anxiety and limiting options for you now, then hopefully you can wipe it out before the debt grows any further. All the best to you -- you are asking good questions.

* get your credit frozen at all of the major credit agencies ... this will stop any further thefts, so all you have to do is deal with the thefts so far

Use it to buy crack and sell it so you can have even more money|||$3500 is a lot for a loan you dont need. Dont borrow more than $500 or $1000 or you%26#039;ll just spend it!|||It all depends on when you need to have a good credit score. Are you planning on buying a car or house in the next two years? If not, then don%26#039;t put yourself through the nonsense of having a loan for nothing.

First of all, who among us can have an extra 3.5k in their bank account and not get a little trigger happy. If your credit limit is at 1.5k you can%26#039;t cover yourself in case of an emergency. Emergencies do happen and you have to be careful.

If I were not planning on getting a loan for something I wanted two years from now I would not go with the needless loan. A lot of risk is invloved.

Keep your balance high on your credit card, but not too close to your limit. Paying off a bill of 800 bucks or so, each billing cycle will look emaculate on your credit score. You%26#039;ll be able to get the dream car or your first house in around 3-4 years. Also, do not get another credit card. 1 is good, 2 is bad. Leave your credit alone and worry about what you%26#039;re doing on the weekend.

You%26#039;ll be good.|||The easiest way (and safest way) to raise your credit score quickly is to take out a loan against your own money (most banks have a minimum of $2,500) and pay it off in no less than 12 months.

If you pull out an unsecured loan for $3,500, then you can take that money, and pull out another loan for $3,500 against that money. Now you have 2 loans and $3,500 in your pocket (don%26#039;t spend it!). Use that money to pay it back, and watch your credit score take off!

You can%26#039;t, I%26#039;m afraid. part of the verification process is that they pay in 2 small amounts into your account ( a few pennies / cents / whatever), then you have to call them when the amounts have been paid in, and tell them how much it was. What is the best way to recover from a Bankruptcy? I want to re-establish my credit but don't k

I filed chapter 7 bankruptcy in April 06 and was discharged in June of 06. I%26#039;m wondering if anyone has any thoughts on how to recover from this issue?? The details leading up to the filing were a separation and divorce that has since been rectified. I have been able to live without credit and have been making my car payment every month on time.

I do know that it is also important to re-establish credit at some point, but I have no idea how to go about this. I have read some articles on the net, but nothing seemed to help. Either some reviews say there is no way to recover, and others offer loads of advice.

Is there a place I can go to get a credit card so I can start over? Also, I am going to need to buy a new car in the next 6 months or so and would like to be able to get one without being laughed at in the dealership.

Anyone have any hints or tips of where I can look for a credit card or new car loan?? Thanks...

What is the best way to recover from a Bankruptcy? I want to re-establish my credit but don%26#039;t know how...care credit

Hi. The absolute first thing you need to do is request a copy of your credit report from all three credit bureaus and make sure that everything included in your bankruptcy that is on your credit report states either discharged in bankruptcy or has a zero balance. There are so many errors on credit reports after bankruptcy. If there are things that aren%26#039;t shown as %26quot;included in bankruptcy%26quot;, just dispute it with the credit bureau and they will correct it.

As far as obtaining credit or purchasing a vehicle, there should be several dealerships in your area that will finance you provided that your case has been discharged. Please be advised that your interest rate may be a little high...maybe lower double digits {11 - 12 %} but you can get financing.

The most important thing to do is to review your credit report. There is no need for you to contact a credit repair company because they will charge you for something you can do for free.

Don%26#039;t buy anything.

Pay all your bills on time.

Don%26#039;t buy anything on credit.

Pay all your bills on time.

Takes years to recover from this on your credit history|||By implementing these tips you could save hundred of dollars in interest in the long run and put cash back in your pocket in the short term.

1) Avoid using cash and borrowing from family for all your purchases. In the eyes of creditors no credit history is the same as a bad credit history. You may get away with paying cash for your car but when you buy your first home it will come back to haunt you. Even if you can afford to borrow or pay cash try opening an account to buy your furniture, automobiles, or home improvements. A diverse credit background will help with your credit score.

2) Your credit report tells all. Do not lie or stretch the truth to lenders, banks, or employers. They will easily catch you and the consequences are not worth it.

3) Do not cancel credit card accounts to improve your credit. The intended affect may be the opposite of what you expect. You can hurt your credit by canceling your credit cards; especially if you have a long history with the account. Losing a ten or twenty year credit history isn%26#039;t worth it. If you absolutely must stop using a card, try shredding it. An open account that doesn%26#039;t have a balance looks far better then no credit account at all.

4) Starting early is always better when establishing credit history. Getting a teenager or college student a credit card is a great way to get their history started. For those who don%26#039;t trust their child%26#039;s judgment yet there are many prepaid cards that report to credit bureaus. Usually companies charge hundreds of dollars to simply pull your credit and send correctly worded dispute letters鈥攖his is the key鈥?.people will tell you that you can do this yourself for free but the truth of the matter is that the credit bureaus will throw your letters away or simply reject them. There is an easy to use online kit that will deliver the results you want available for just $19.95 at the source website. A similar kit is being sold via infomercials and radio talk shows for seventy dollars more but they try to solicit you repeatedly for other services after the fact.|||This site may help you out, sure helped me. Good luck.|||You say that you are making your car payments on time, if this is a vehicle that you had before the bankruptcy and reaffirmed on the loan, call your lender and make sure that they are still reporting to the credit bureaus.

When I had my BK back in 2001 I had a Ford account that I reaffirmed on and found out 6-months later that they were not reporting, I called and asked them to and my score shot up overnight.

The other thing you can do is get in touch with Orchard bank and get a credit card. Use it for everyday things like gas and food being careful not to exceed 30% of your credit limit in any given month and pay in full before the due date.

This will do two things, it will establish a good pay history (35% of your score) and avoid interest charges.

I did this after my BK and in 1-year my score had gone up over 100-points.

It can be done, it just takes time. 3-years after my discharge I bought a home with no money down, 100% financeing and a fixed 6.5% rate.

Anyone know about First National Card?

I received a card offer today called First National Merchant Card, from CCS First National in Las Vegas. Since I%26#039;m looking to repair my credit, is this a wise option or is it a scam ? Any info about this card or company would be appreciated.

Anyone know about First National Card?inflation rate

The other poster answered your question beautifully. I just wanted to state that my own experience with this card started when I received one in the mail last year as if I%26#039;d requested a credit card with them. A red flag went up. Since I%26#039;d spent years building my credit back up and suddenly I have this card in the mail that I didn%26#039;t want. Also, there%26#039;s the concern over ID theft. Who knows, this could have been someone%26#039;s attempt to get a card sent to my address and they were to steal it out of my mailbox or something. These are things people should be concerned about anyway. I got another one the other day and simply cut it up.

But it turns out this is just a scam company. Comments all across the net show that people have been falling for this company%26#039;s pitch at least since 1998. They should rename themselves The Clean-Out-Your-Bank-Account Company, Inc. I don%26#039;t think it%26#039;s a bad business practice to supply people with a catalogue account and a catalogue of merchandise to order from, but this company is more concerned with getting your money and giving you a catalogue of stuff you don%26#039;t want to order from. Have a problem? Well, they%26#039;ll just give you more credit that you can use towards stuff you don%26#039;t want. One guy complained that the catalogue he%26#039;d been sent in the fall was a spring version. Heh! So they sent him a %26quot;new%26quot; catalogue that just happened to be the same out of date one he%26#039;d gotten before. Spring!

I recommend this site for more info on the experience others have had with this shady company: http://www.ripoffreport.com/ There%26#039;s even a former employee who posts (spews) there to truly show you what kind of people you%26#039;re dealing with. Even a former employee won%26#039;t admit they are doing anything wrong. I also read some material that detailed the lawsuit against this company in 1998 and how difficult it is in general to close down these places.

How do I get Capital One off my credit report?mortgage lenders

If you paid it off the entire balance (we don%26#039;t know how much the balance was) with no residual finance charges or late fees, you should be on the clear. However, credit cards work just like car loan, you have to call and get the balance including the residual finance charges. That means if you carried the balance from month to month without pay it off completely, the residual will accrue. In your mind at that time, you may thought that you paid it off but because you didn%26#039;t call to get the complete balance. That remain residual finance charges and late fees can cost you a bundle.

Closing the account has nothing to do with the remain balance. You still obligate to pay for the balance of the account whether the account is closed or not.

Call the Capital one and they will refer to the collection agency that they sold the account. Make payment arrangement with the collection agency but the fact remains is that the bad mark will stay on your record for 7 years even though you paid it off.

After 6 years, Crap1 has no records left of your account and if they sold the debt to a collection agency they certainly have NO RECORDS. Dispute it and ask for validation of the debt.

If you have a decent collector working your account they will try to help you. You can always do the cease and desist letter. But that doesn%26#039;t erase the debt. Can my bad credit really stop me from getting a job?

Ok, so I interviewd for a great job yesterday it went great and I was offered the job the same day. I was told my salary and that I would start two weeks from now. The problem is I have bad credit! Good luck and keep your head up!!!!|||most companies love the fact that you have bad credit, the more debt you have, the more you need the job,so your performance, and longevity will be better|||It really all depends on the position you%26#039;re being hired for. If it%26#039;s a job in the financial market, or banking field, yes you could be disqualified once they%26#039;ve checked your credit because they%26#039;ll look at it as you are having financial difficulties and could be more inclined to steal or embezzle. However, one credit card won%26#039;t really make a difference, what they look for is if you have a bunch of outstanding accounts that you%26#039;ve defaulted on or have been turned over to collections. I%26#039;d say a bankruptcy would have a better chance of you being turned down especially if you%26#039;re going to be handling any sort of money for the company. Not that having a bankruptcy automatically makes you a thief, it doesn%26#039;t I have one and would never dream of stealing from an employer but they don%26#039;t want to take that chance. I always hear commercials on tv/radio about debt consolidation and such, and they always sound so shady and scammy.

I dont understand either why they%26#039;re not for profit, that makes it sounds even shadier. Are these owned and controlled by credit companies to get their money back or what?

Any one have experience with this?

Is credit/debt consolidation a scam? The commercials always sound so stereotypical scam like. Do they work?

You say your have about a decades worth of bills totaling $10,000?

The debt consolidation companies would love to help you, they%26#039;d make a killing off of you. Do not go to a debt consolidation place, well unless of course you%26#039;d love to get ripped off.

Now, lets talk about what you should do.

When is the last time you paid on these bills? Pull your credit report to see what%26#039;s actually listed on there Visit the site www.annualcreditreport.com. Don%26#039;t bother signing up for the various ones that give you a free month trial. You%26#039;ll forget to cancel and they%26#039;ll start charging you. Also, you most likely don%26#039;t need to purchase your credit score at this point either.

Pull all 3 reports and review them. Now there%26#039;s two routes to take.

The first is if you want to pay everything off in full. If you do, just start sending the money for the full balances to the creditors listed. You should start paying off the ones that had recent negative activity or recently went to collections. Why? Because if this process takes you 2 years to pay everything off then other items that are older may fall off your report in those two years. After 7 years from the first negative reporting an item will generally fall off your credit report. This does not mean you don%26#039;t still owe it, it just means they cannot report it anymore(Again, generally speaking, they go away, you still technically them still but depending on your state they usually can%26#039;t sue, see http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/SOL-... for your state%26#039;s statute of limitations)

The second route is a little different. Generally speaking, creditors will settle for less than you owe. This will be reported on your credit report as paid, but settled for less than the balance. Go through one by one and negotiate with your individual creditors to see what type of settlement they will make. Never agree to pay more than you can and work your way backwards the same way.

Now for the tips, Find out what your state%26#039;s statute of limitations is. Making a payment to a creditor will essentially reset the timer. So if your statue of limitations is 4 years and you pay on a debt that%26#039;s 3 years and 6 months old, you%26#039;ve reset the timer. The Statute of Limitations is the time frame a creditor has to sue you in. You don%26#039;t want to set out on the right track and end up with lawsuit papers.

Is credit/debt consolidation a scam? The commercials always sound so stereotypical scam like. Do they work?

loan

If it sounds too good to be true....it usually is...I heard it actualy lowers your credit rating.|||Well these companies don%26#039;t do this for free so you have to worry about the over priced fee for them to help you.
