They cancelled it about 6 years ago when I was really struggling with debt and extended credit. Now that I%26#039;ve gotten back to the low 700s, they%26#039;ve started aggressively courting me and offering a good rate to please re-open the account with them. It might help to have it as an emergency account but I don%26#039;t really need it. My question is what the impact on my credit score would be if I did re-open it? It is now listed as %26quot;Acct Closed by Provider%26quot; which obviously doesn%26#039;t look good. Re-opening it would make a 16 year old account %26quot;Current%26quot; but how do they treat that gap in the length of card-holding (or would anyone even know?). If they tried to issue me a new account instead of re-opening my initial account I%26#039;d be taking a huge whack in my credit rating, so I%26#039;d decline. If I did re-open the old account and just keep it available for emergencies, how much would the increase in average card length impact my score versus the impact of having additional credit availble on the account?
If my card was cancelled by the company years ago %26amp; now I reopen the acct. will that help or hurt my FICO?care credit
you would be better off leaving a sleeping dog lie -- do not have anything to do with this company!!!!
