My computer has a virus. Help I dont know what to do?

I lent my friend%26#039;s brother my computer, and when I got it back it said my computer is infected. Now I dont know what to do. I cant purchase any of that on-line stuff over the net because I dont live in the U.S.A and I dont have an International credit card. Does anyone know any websites that offer free anti-virus removal tools that will get rid of this virus effectively?

Disable System Restore Windows Me/XP if you have a (anti-virus)Update the virus definitions then Run a full system scan.
