I was planning on researching my family and putting something together and framing it for my father%26#039;s birthday. There%26#039;s a lot of sites out there like ancestry.com but they all claim to offer free trials but want a credit card so they can screw you over and bill you because of some loophole or they only give you limited access to their databases. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a site out there or if there%26#039;s any truly free sites? Btw, I%26#039;m Italian if that makes any difference in terms of sites.
What%26#039;s a good site to research your lineage?
http://www.familysearch.org/ is the site operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It claims to be, %26quot;The largest collection of free family history,
family tree and genealogy records in the world.%26quot; And since it is backed by the largest genealogy library in the world, the claim is probably accurate.
You%26#039;ll have to register, but last I checked, they didn%26#039;t ask for a credit card.

No you don%26#039;t have to register at Family Search.org. Only if you want to use the Ordinance records.
The records are only as good as the information that was given by the submitters except if it says at the bottom an extraction record which are actual records the Church went to the areas in the world and filmed the record.
Other free sites include but not all:
World Connect.com
RootsWeb.com
CyndisList.com
Heritage Quest.com for censuses but requires a library card.
CensusOnline.com
The easiest way is to do a search for:Free genealogy sites there are many who are absolutely unpaid sites.
Also put in the name for the person you are look for as a search and sometimes something will come up that way.
Ancestry is the best and they have basic information but if you need answers from their paid site I pay for it to help others and will be glad to lookup for you. Just e-mail me at Weebadinkus @yahoo.com with your request. There is absolutely no charge. I am just a retired former researcher who worked at the World%26#039;s largest genealoy library and still like to help if I can.
For Italian research in depth do a search for free Italian sites.
