Is it possible for me to get an car loan before I start a high paying job?

I%26#039;m a college senior and I graduate in two weeks and will be working for Chevron making 48000 a year and I wan%26#039;t to just get a used car under 7000 with 2000 down payment and finance the rest. I%26#039;m wondering if loan companies take into account that I have a standing job offer. My credit history is limited and I have one credit card and checking account and a part time job. Is there any hope for me or am i just screwed?

You should be able to be approved for a car loan. Talk to the bank where you have the checking account, and they most likely can help you with the financing.

Take the $2,000 you planned on using as a down payment, and buy a $2,000 car with it, paid-in-cash.

With a $4,000/month salary ($3,000 after taxes), if you%26#039;re supporting yourself, you should easily be able to put aside $400/month cash in a savings account.

You just need a written budget so that you control your money, instead of it controling you. Here%26#039;s an example:

$3,000/month income.

$200 entertainment

$600 retirement (Roth IRA and/or 401K)

$700 rent

$150 electric bill

$ 50 water bill

$ 50 gas bill

$ 50 phone bill

$150 cable TV

$200 food

$ 50 cell phone

$100 gasoline

$ 50 car insurance ($300 every 6 months)

$100 new clothes

$ 20 doctors office

$130 household supplies (toothpaste, toilet paper, etc.)

$400 cash savings (for emergencies or car)

12 months from now, trade in your $2,000 beater for the $6,500 car, and pay cash again.

Rich people got that way because they avoided credit cards and car notes like the plague.|||Here is Australia you can as u are paying off your credit card and there for should have a credit rating... In fact, if you are seen as a risk, they are more likely to give you the loan/card as you will be more likely to skip payments and that%26#039;s when they start charging fees and can make lots of money out of you.
